Cuba en Bici offers a unique and varied itinerary which lets you discover the fascinating landscapes of West Cuba. After your arrival in Havana, you will head to the tobacco region of Pinar del Río and start discovering West Cuba by following cycle paths. You will cycle past karst formations on the way to the idyllic white sand beaches of Cayo Jutías and as you head back to Havana, you will pass through the Viñales Valley. You are sure to be mesmerised by the charming landscapes. Be assured that your trip is designed by knowledgeable local experts who will do everything they can to make sure your holiday is truly unforgettable!
Highlights of Cuba en Bici
One of the absolute highlights of our Cuba en Bici Holiday is without a doubt the Viñales Valley, with its fertile soils, on which the legendary Cuban tobacco is grown. You will have the opportunity to stop off and visit a local tobacco factory, where you can experience the art of rolling the perfect Cuban cigar. The region also boasts some of Cuba’s most unique landscapes thanks to the steep conical “mogote” hills which stand in between the plantations and the many cave formations. For example, you will visit the “Cueva del Indio” which can be explored on foot, before taking a boat on the underground river. It comes as no surprise that the Viñales Valley has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there is no doubt that you will go home with long-lasting memories of the region.
Soroa Orchid Garden
The highlight of the Soroa region is the world-renowned orchid garden, founded by Tomás Felipe Camacho, a wealthy Spaniard from the Canary Islands, in memory of his daughter. Should you choose this Cycling Holiday, the fifth day will be spent here. There are over 700 species of orchid from all over the world, including rare species such as the Bird of Paradise Flower. The main flowering period is between November and April, but if visiting at other times of the year, you will still have the chance to gaze in awe at many of the garden’s other stunning plants. Choose this tour for an opportunity to admire these natural wonders.
Your visit to Las Terrazas Nature Reserve is sure to be one of the most memorable parts of your Cuba Cycling Holiday! This eco-tourism project is situated right in the middle of the Sierra del Rosario Mountain range. Whether you would rather wander through the beautiful landscapes, go animal spotting in the surrounding areas or swim in the natural pool in Rio San Juan, Las Terrazas is perfect for all nature lovers! For those seeking the absolute thrill, you can also go on a canopy tour through the treetops. The residents of Las Terrazas, which was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, are extremely welcoming to visitors. Choose this holiday and experience this prime example of eco-tourism!
