Tours around Cuba - Cuba´s Colonial Centre - Itinerary
This 7-day guided group tour starts and finishes in Havana and will take you to the most beautiful parts of Cuba’s centre. First up is Cienfuegos, charmingly situated in one of the most beautiful bays in Cuba with stunning French-influenced architecture. En route to Trinidad you will pass an extraordinary landscape with picturesque waterfalls, rainforests and rivers. Trinidad itself will transport you back in time and the endless beautiful beaches of Varadero provide a fantastic final stop on the tour.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Havana
You arrive at Havana’s International Airport. Optional transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Havana
The day starts with breakfast and sightseeing in Havana. You will take a tour of the old historic centre of the city which has been recognised by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site. After a visit to the Havana Club Rum Museum, you will be served lunch at a typical local restaurant. In the afternoon you will explore ‘modern’ Havana from the backseat of a Cuban vintage car. For a real feast for your senses, you should visit La Bodeguita del Medio or La Floridita, famous restaurants where Hemingway used to enjoy countless Mojitos.

Day 3: Cienfuegos
After breakfast you will set off in the direction of Cienfuegos, which is often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the South’. En route you will take a boat trip on the Laguna del Tresoro (the Treasure Lake) which lies in a truly picturesque landscape of palms, mangrove forests and water canals. You will also be able to visit a village reconstructed in Taíno-Indian style and a crocodile farm. After this you can explore the city of Cienfuegos situated on the beautiful Cienfuegos bay. You can admire the neo-classical architecture of the city and visit the Teatro Terry and the Palacio del Valle.

Day 4: Sierra de Escambray & Trinidad
After breakfast you will travel to Sierra de Escambray. The Topes de Collantes nature reserve is a haven for nature lovers with caves, waterfalls, natural pools and much more including the Hacienda Codina health resort. Many rare rainforest plants and animals can also be found here. En route to Trinidad you will see beautiful landscapes with waterfalls and picturesque 'fincas' (ranches).

Day 5: Trinidad
Today you can explore Trinidad on your own. The city was built in the 16th century and just walking through its streets it is as if time stands still there. Don’t forget to try the typical local drink Canchánchara. In the afternoon you will leave for an excursion to Valle de los Ingenios where you are going to visit Torre Iznaga-the former watchtower that was used to oversee slaves working on the plantation.

Day 6: Varadero
After breakfast you will travel to Varadero. On the way you will visit the Sancti Spíritus, the first settlement in the Caribbean. This small town is located between cattle fields and sugar cane plantations and has a fascinating colonial heritage. In Santa Clara you will be able to see an interesting site - the mausoleum, the final resting place of the Latin American revolutionary Che Guevara. In the evening you will arrive at the beach paradise of Varadero, where you will check-in into your room.

Day 7: Varadero
You can spend a relaxing day at the beach of Varadero before heading back to Havana. In the afternoon your transfer will take you to the airport (optional).
