Tour around the Caribbean - Cuba & Mexico - Itinerary
On this tour you will experience the highlights of two beautiful, yet very different countries. Enjoy the unique Cuban flair during your first part of the tour before flying to Mexico. Explore the Yucatan Peninsula and visit famous Mayan sites like Chichen Itza, explore colonial cities like Mérida and relax at the picturesque Caribbean beaches of the Maya Riviera.
Today, you will explore the historic centre Habana Vieja, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, on a guided tour. The city’s historic flair can be seen everywhere in the old town’s maze of tiny streets. You will visit the modern part of Havana in the afternoon.

After breakfast we will head west to the province of Pinar del Río. On a tour through a tobacco factory the local experts will teach you how to roll typical Cuban cigars – puros. From there we will continue on to Viñales, a traditional village with a high degree of authenticity that is surrounded by beautiful tobacco fields and limestone. You will visit the Cueva del Indio. Later this afternoon, you will travel to your hotel.

In the morning after the breakfast you will start your tour to Cienfuegos, also known as the Perla del Sur (Southern Pearl). You will take a boat through the picturesque landscape of Laguna del Tesoro which has many canals, mangrove forests and palm trees. You may visit a crocodile farm nearby. Afterwards you will explore Cienfuegos, which is one of Cuba’s most beautiful and lively towns. The city has a typically French feel about it as emigrants from Bordeaux and Louisiana settled there in the 19th Century. You will visit the Teatro Tomás Terry which has a beautiful sculpture of Dionysos and the Palacio del Valle with its Moroccan influences.

The day starts with a walk through the colonial town of Trinidad which is located on a hill with picturesque views of the mountains and the sea. Trinidad was founded by Diego Velázquez as Cuba’s third settlement in 1514. Today it is a UNESCO world heritage site. In the colonial city are many things to be discovered like the Palacio Brunet, one of the most beautiful palaces in town and today home to the Museo Romántico. The afternoon is free for you to explore the area on your own, or to go on an excursion. In the evening you will visit the Casa de la Trova where you will have the chance to dance to live Cuban music.

After breakfast you will travel to Varadero. On the way, you will visit the small and charming town Sancti Spíritus, one of the oldest settlements in the Caribbean, which is encircled by meadows and sugar cane fields. In Santa Clara you will visit the Mausoleum which holds the remains of the famous revolutionary Che Guavara. You will arrive in Varadero in the evening.

Today you will have to say goodbye to Cuba. We will take you to the airport in Havana where you will fly to Cancun, Mexico. Your Mexican guide will welcome you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Cancun.

Early in the morning you will start your tour of Valladolid. After a guided tour through the inviting town you can bathe in the crystal clear water of “Cenote Dzitnup”. In the afternoon we will visit the famous Mayan site Chichén Itzá, which has been declared as a UNESCO world heritage site.

From Chichén Itzá we will travel west to Izamal. The Izamal monastery is the largest Franciscan monastery and was built as a response to the Mayan sacred sites in the area. In the afternoon you will travel on to Mérida where you will experience typical Mexican life and beautiful colonial architecture on a guided tour.

This day is free for you to explore the area on your own. Stroll through the streets of Merida or go on an excursion to Celestun Biosphere Reserve on the Atlantic Coast (optional, to book on site), famous for its colony of pink flamingos. On a 2.5 hour boat trip in the mangroves you will be able to see the birds in their natural habitat (optional).

Today, you will visit Tulum on the Caribbean Coast where you visit the Mayan site.
You will start the day with an excursion to Biosphere Reserve Sian Kaan. On a canoe tour through the mangroves you will learn a lot about the indigenous flora and fauna.
Along the coast you will go to the seaside resort of Playa del Carmen. Enjoy the Caribbean Sea or purchase some souvenirs in this lively town.

The morning is free for you to explore Playa del Carmen. In the afternoon, we will take you to the international airport in Cancun (optional).
