House
of Africa Museum
The House of Africa, founded on 1986 in a colonial palace
of the Old Havana, is dedicated to portray the history
and influences of Africa in Cuba. The collections, based
on those of the investigator Fernando Ortiz and of the
one of Fidel Castro, represents 26 African countries,
specially those with a direct influence in the Cuban culture.
The House of Africa is an important training centre, as
well as a place where ethnologhists, anthropologists or
students of afro-Cuban culture can present their findings.
